Today’s card is so pretty, I can’t wait to share it with all of you. I continue to surprise myself with the things I am making with the Painted Poppies bundle. Don’t forget, I have a tutorial with lots of new ideas you need to see!
See below for details.
The idea with the stripes is something I saw once, and I knew I had to try it with the poppies!
I started with a white panel, and my blends markers. I used Ivory, Petal Pink, Crumb Cake, Gray Granite, and Smoky Slate. I rotated through the markers until I couldn’t fit any more stripes. They aren’t perfectly straight, and I am okay with that. It makes the card look more natural.
After that I popped that panel onto a piece of Basic Gray cardstock. Then I cut two strips of Gray Granite cardstock using the scallop edge die. They fit perfectly, lucky for me. The scalloped edges give this card a touch of elegance.
I was trying to figure out what color to use next, and I decided on Poppy Parade for the background. It needed a little bit of contrast, so the card wouldn’t get too dark. I stamped the dotty watercolor stamp with Poppy Parade ink on the outside of the panel. No sense doing the middle since it was going to be covered anyways.
Then I decided that keeping the color palette simple would look fantastic. I didn’t want to add another color at this point. Poppy Parade to the rescue again! I made a cardbase and added the rest of the panels.
After I put the card together, I realized that it needed a little sentiment. Label Me Bold stamp set to the rescue! I stamped hello onto a white scrap and trimmed it closely, leaving just the slightest white border. I added a couple of mini dimensionals to the back and attached it to the card.
If you love this card, and everything else you have seen, you are going to want the free tutorial I created with 5 new ideas that you won’t see anywhere else. It’s 15 pages long, and packed with pictures.
