Writing thank you notes is a lost art. We all know we should do it more often, and somehow it slips to the back burner. Before you know it, the thought goes up in flames. Then 3 months down the road, you remember it, and guilt flutters through your stomach.
Come on, admit it, you probably have had that feeling before.
I admit it. I know I am guilty of not sending a thank you more often than not. It’s not that I don’t appreciate what has been given or done for me. I do. It’s that in a busy life, we have to prioritize, and sometimes that means those little things like writing a short thank you gets put aside.
Sending a card can be productive and fun at the same time.
Making your own thank you notes serves two purposes. When you create your own thank you cards, you automatically have an excuse to pull out your stamping stash. Your partner can’t complain when you say you want to make something to show your gratitude. They would look like a jerk, and no one wants that.
Now, when you have your materials out, make several at a time. Once you have a design you are going to use, making extras doesn’t take that much extra time. Having more on hand makes it that much easier to send a thank you the next time you need to. And who doesn’t need easy right now?
After you finish making your cards, you are going to feel so good about yourself. You know how good it feels to get something other than a bill in the mail. Your recipient will be thrilled to see your card in the mailbox and have that same sense of excitement.
Imagine their surprise when they see that the thank you note is handmade by you. That has to make you feel good! And they feel good knowing you took the time to not only send a thank you card, but that you created the handmade and handwritten thank you card.
Another thing that will make you feel good is knowing you don’t have to feel guilty about not sending a card. The burden has been lifted, and you are also ready for when you need to send other cards in the future.
Feel like you are short on time with the kids home? Involve them in the process. They love the involvement, and you will have time to create the cards. I recently did that with my family. You can see that here.
I made this card to show my love and appreciation to someone I love. I used the Botanical Prints medley.
If you are reading this and thinking you have something to be thankful for, you should take out your supplies and start making those cards ASAP!
And if you don’t have any need to send a thank you card right now, take out your stamps anyways. You are going to need one in the future, maybe as soon as tomorrow. Being prepared feels good, and you feel good about having thank you cards at the ready as well.
Just don’t forget to send it…
